Kew Fete

Summer cake by Katy from Love Cake - Eat Cake who is a passionate freelance cake-maker (all information about her and gorgeous cakes she makes here).

Summer to me is always the time of sun, sea, fun, and since I moved to the UK - summer Fairs.   Today Kew Fete is held on the green grass of Kew Green, keeping the community spirit alive and providing moderately expensive but so much fun entertainment for locals, visitors and participants of the fair.

Fantastic hand-made baskets by BasketBasket. The owner Virginia fell in love with baskets having lived in France and now runs the business in cooperation with Be Seen To Be Green and the majority of the baskets come from the family run business in Morocco and a women's association in Northern Ghana.

And absolutely amazing "granny's" purses and bags by Lisbeth Dahl...

Some lovely stuff from Taste of Sicily.

These guys were friendly and posed for a photo.
...and the product they sold - a must have of every Summer Fair. It reminded me of Giggle Piggy from Bloomsbury Square farmers' market.
 A lovely English lady ...
 ...selling lovely cakes!

Every little child's dream - best delivered by the girls from House of Young, a small family business who search for once loved vintage children's furniture, toys and gifts and bring them to  life with a pinch of contemporary charm.

And plenty of baby staff from various small businesses..

Now in its third year (oh, it became apparent that we missed first two!) Kew Fete is a great family day out. But don't be disappointed if you missed it - there are plenty of fairs around the area including Wimbledon Village Fair on 23 June, Acton Carnival on 7 July, Barnes Fair on 14 July, and lots of others, just google it!

With the hopes that the great British summer will finally arrive, have a great summer all!
