Last of Portugal - Sintra & Cascais

Today is a month since I started posting here frequently (lol, seeing my new post every day or even twice a day probably makes you sick already), but to me it became some sort of a journal - a stimulator to get out and discover new things or take a fresh look at the old ones.

So here is the way I saw it - Sintra and Cascais - two rather tourist, yet very traditional and charismatic places we visited.

'How much time have you got?' asked the girl at the local tourist information centre in Sintra.

Two hours we had appeared not to be enough to see a few Palacios, Igrejas, Castelos, Casas, Fontes, Museums and Galerias. Two days would probably be more appropriate.

So a snap-shot of Sintra - a beautiful town which became even more famous in 1995 when UNESCO awarded it World Heritage status (in Cultural Landscape category).

An old wall fresco...
And a new wall fresco...
The old legend of Barcelos cock is here.
And one of my favourite desserts - pastel de nata!
For those who plan a trip all information is on Sintra Cultural Department web-site.

And this is Cascais. Hope that Google offers you translation to this web-site where you can discover everything and more about the city.

One of the places not to miss - Boca do Inferno or 'Hell's mouth' - a grotto sculptured by the Atlantic waters and owing its name to the frightening sound produced by the impact of the waves on the rocks. In the small shop a local guy was selling some lovely sea shells which my compatriots - a married couple - were so fascinated about, they decided to buy one for their friends Khomyachkovy (The Hamsters).
This one skipped 'Hell's Mouth' but definitely ended up in the mouth of one of the fishermen as it was caught just next to the natural rock bridge.

The place to come back!
