I haven't posted anything for a while for a few reasons... I have been busy at work, desperately trying to finish off a few things, then there was this amazing long weekend full of the events - graduation at the university, hubby's birthday, and the concert of Gypsy Kings. About the concert - I bought the tickets thinking about the song .below ...
Instead we faced a group of the aged men singing in Spanish and thanking the public in French. I had to keep the straight face explaining to my husband why I chose this particular band - 'it was obvious, they were the only name (well, apart from the Status Quo) I knew... ' Never mind!
We are in Portugal. We have bananas growing next to the windows of the apartment we rent in the complex with hotel and residencies. The morning starts from watching the British citizens queuing to book the lounges at the pool. The pool opens at 9am, by that time there is a queue of about 30 (!) people.. It makes me laugh!
The whole local town is a new development. Many hotels have been opened less than ten years ago. There is not a single thing of the Portuguese originality, with full English breakfast offered at every corner. This place could have been in any other place on our earth - you would not have guessed. But we enjoy it. No need to rush sightseeing, as there is hardly anything to see. The road sign to the Roman ruins was totally misleading.
But the beaches are great, offering long wooden broadwalks, sunshades, rubbish bins, water taps to clean the sand from your feet and ... the ashtrays when entering the beach. Did I also mention that the parking is free?! :)
The Portuguese are amazing people, whose warm hospitality can't help to bring the smile on our faces. And they totally adore our one a a half year old.
Today I woke up for the first time with the funny realization that the blue sky is a given here. Happiness and tranquility... And the gratitude!
