Biggest Cemetery on Earth

I have mixed feelings.

Yesterday started perfectly fine and despite being slightly late for work (all missed minutes were honestly recovered during the lunch-at-my-desk-time), the day went on fine. Just fine. Having managed to grab some clementines for my two year old before jumping on a tube and heading to Waterloo station, I had good hopes to catch the train on time...

It was exactly 15 minutes later when I was sitting to the train next to a mum of another little fella from the nursery when they announced the delay. Due to the accident at the  station close to the nursery, it was announced, the one with the cross over where hundreds or people and thousands of cars try to get through with as little delay as possible... I learnt later that night that it was a woman who got hit by the train. There was  no chance of survival. So it was me sitting on a sofa in front of the TV watching the guys across the pond getting ready to cast their vote for what they describe 'less of two evils' and I kept thinking about the poor woman.

Having happen to have Facebook open, the thought stroke my mind. Facebook must be the biggest cemetery on earth.

With '1 billion monthly active users' (c), that makes circa 1/7 of the world population, at the same statistic claims that there are about 150,000 people dying every day. How many of them happen to have profiles on Facebook?

Do you happen to have among your friends on Facebook people who are no longer alive? I know it sounds very strange and may not please your ears, but quite seriously... And then there are those rather surreal moments when Facebook may suggest you write something on their wall because you two didn't seem to be interested in each other lives recently.

The modern generation now seems to address most of their concerns via Facebook. The thing I would probably never be able to understand is when people leave their RIP comments on a profile of a person who has just died. What is it? A lack of manners? Lack of care? Or just lack of a common sense..

Maybe it is a modern way to grieve, I am not quite sure..
